At first I was wondering why the boat stopped, the boatman said that we’re at the shipwreck. I’m like “whaaaaat?”. I thought the Calauit Safari tour itinerary of the day have ended, but I was wrong. I jumped in again (without my life vest) even though I’m so tired already after snorkeling at the coral garden and at the North Cay, but I want to see the shipwreck myself, so I must do this.
At first I can't see where's the shipwreck yet, the boatman was pointing the way to me. Then I saw a somewhat figure. And it was the ship's front tip, in a side view, or somewhat tilted. I go near to it. Well, actually snorkel nearer to that figure. I felt like it was so creepy, because the water in that area is cold. Probably because of the ship, making it more colder.
But seeing what's inside it, the view, it becomes really creepier. Like I don't want to finish the end of it because I'm already imagining stuff.
But thankfully for the fish, they helped me calm down and just enjoy watching them swim around the corals that are on the ship.
I can see more corals at the bottom or hidden from the top view, but since I don't know how to go down there yet, I didn't challenge myself to do so. I was just peaking around and see if there's anything creepy with it because it's so damn cold on that area.
I even wanted to pose like I was holding on, or do the titanic pose in this area, but there's no one to take a picture of me because the people I'm with, are already too tired to swim and see the shipwreck for themselves.
Well, they missed the creepiness!
I'm not sure how far the Lusong Gunboat Shipwreck is from the Coron town, but I do think it's about 1 to 2 hours boat ride from the proper since it was all dark already when we arrived. Good thing the boats have a single light to be able to see each other, and other boats passing by.
If you ask if this destination is a must visit in Coron Palawan, well totally! A lot of tourists go here and even do diving just to see the Lusong Gunboat Shipwreck. Even just snorkeling above it is totally fine, and the boatman with your experienced swimmer tour guide will be there to watch you just in case.
