Kayangan Lake - Visiting One of the Top Places to Visit in Coron Palawan

Before I stepped on the Kayangan lake, I have no such idea that it’s that spot where a lot of people do take their pictures that makes you immediately say that they’re in Coron. That spot wherein you do see on post cards.

Not sure what I’m talking about? Then here’s a photo of me, taken by awesome travel buddy Channel.

That’s not the Kayangan lake of Coron islands by the way. That’s the lagoon area, wherein your boat will stop and yes, you have to climbed up right there at my spot to get a shot and go down to go to the lake. It is said that there’s 150 steps up, and 150 going down to the lake. When you do visit this, congratulations, you just made 600 steps!

It was our second day in Coron Palawan, but first day of tour when we visited Kayangan Lake. When I was posting pictures of the places we visited before this, my friends are asking where I am. But when I posted this photo on Instagram, they got it. That I’m in Coron. So, I’d say this is the top place to visit in Coron, it becomes its landmark.

But before you get off the boat. Please do remember that you'll be going up, then down to get to the lake. I, myself, have to take a few minutes to breathe - thank God they do have a wooden chair in the middle on the way up - and also, the steps are not that good, mostly they're uneven.

The Barracuda lake may be best if you can't make too many steps, but again I slipped there so watch your steps.

Anyway, when you're at the top, turn left. Because the spot where this photo is best taken is there.

You can go back when you're done and go straight and follow the steps to go to the Kayangan lake.

Sadly, I forgot to take and don't have a photo of the whole lake. But I do have these...

See that couple watching me with the pretty little girl? The mom is Gretchen, the Filipina Explorer and family. The area they're at is where you can leave your stuff and sit. You may ask your tour guide to watch for your things, our guide Ryan even carried our fins and snorkels for us so we can focus more on our steps.

The Kayangan lake is pretty much like the Barracuda and Twin Lagoon, but I think you'll feel a bit more safe here and comfortable because there's an area where you can just sit and watch, and also it's not as deep as the other lakes in Coron.

That's Gretchen's feet by the way.

See, not even scared to go down because I can see the rocks and can hold on to it.

I was even more relaxed floating here since I can see the ground. The rocks at the bottom. A lot of group of family was also here and enjoyed the area, all laughing, and enjoying their moment. Unlike the other lagoons, they were all like freaking out to be left alone or even just be few inches away from the group.

No barracuda here. I think. But there are these really small fishes just roaming around, not scared but used with humans jumping into the lake.

Is Kayangan lake a must visit place? Totally! Especially if you want to take a picture here just to really say that you've been to Coron. I think most of the tourists do avail the tour package wherein you'll get to visit this lake. It's common, yes. But it's what Coron actually is.

Watch out for my next posts about my third day touring the beautiful Coron Palawan.

Where I'm going next? November 2015, I'll be visiting El Nido Palawan - yeap! Loving Palawan! But for more of my travel schedules, please feel free to check out the Exotic Philippines travel calendar page.
