Sample Employment Letter for Visa Application [FREELANCER]

As a freelancer for years myself and a Philippines travel blogger, I have a number of bosses and quiet shy to bother my clients on writing a letter for me, or at least endorse me for my own pleasure. So I think this sample employment letter will be useful for freelancers who instead of asking for CERTIFICATE OF EMPLOYMENT (CoE) this will do.

Please note that this is not all coming from me, this was originally coming from my good friend Mary of The Infinite Adventures who’s by the way an awesome writer. So please, if you want the original sample of certificate of employment, head over to her blog.

I’ve personalize her version a bit (I think) and asked my local (Philippines based) client so that, for my case it will not be just an endorsement that I am employed, got a salary, but also of course that I have strong ties here in the Philippines and that’s the reason for me to come back and not illegally work there in their country.

So I suggest, if you do have a client based in your country, you do have that client issue you a certificate of employment instead or like this employment letter. It’s not necessarily you’re part or an in-house person of the company; it’s simply saying that you are indeed working and have ties somewhere.

If you don’t have a client here in the Philippines, I do think a client(s) especially with good pay will be also alright. Just send them this and have it signed.

SAMPLE CERTIFICATE OF EMPLOYMENT FOR FREELANCERS

I used this letter of employment for my application on South Korea Tourist Visa which I got approved for. So I can totally say that this letter do work, and is acceptable for a tourist visa application.

Notes:
  • Please don’t forget to personalize it, and change it to your name and just print it.
  • The fonts in bold to highlight the parts that you should really change.
  • If you’re not submitting in Cebu, please change the embassy address or the country name and address (if not for South Korea tourist visa)
  • Ideally, you should print this on an A4 size paper (if you’re submitting a South Korea visa or Japan Tourist Visa) so that all documents you’ll submit has the same paper size. Just looks good when you submit it on the embassy.
