Lunch Stop at Starfish Island

One of the islands that you’ll stop for the Honda Bay tour in Puerto Princesa Palawan is the Starfish Island. At first I thought the island is shaped like a star – that would be really weird. But it’s actually because there are a number of starfish in the island.

The place is more known to be the lunch stop for the tour. So while you’re on the beach swimming and going for a snorkel to see the fishes there, your guide will cook your lunch for you.

I believe we stayed there for about an hour where most of the time we spent in snorkeling, then the other half, of course is having our lunch.

There are some fishes there, but the water is not as beautiful as what you’ll see in El Nido Palawan, or even Coron. But there are more fishes in this island comparing to the other islands that you’ll visit in the Honda Bay tour.

Sadly, not sure exactly why, but there are only few corals in the island, that’s why the fishes there is probably as not as many as before, or as many as the other snorkeling spots in Palawan. Our guide said that it is due to the storms coming in and the corals get destroyed.

Afraid to swim? One of your boatmen will join your group, as for me and Channel, a teenager boatman was with us. He has this circle that can float and we can hold on to. He brought us to places further than the others since we look a bit more experienced – not wearing a life jacket, but please do wear it since the strong waves may bring you somewhere.

The snorkeling spot is okay, not amazing but just okay.
