The Philippines Freedom!

Philippine Independence

Tomorrow will be the Philippines Independence Day! So here in Exotic Philippines blog, I would like to also celebrate it to give respect and importance of my home land.
The acknowledgment of the Philippines Independence was on June 12, 1898 in Cavite II el Viejo now known as Kawit of Cavite Philippines around four or five in the afternoon.

Since then June 12 here in the Philippines was observed as a Flag Day! From cars to buildings, from the street to the government offices, everyone have their own Philippine flags.

The Philippine national flag was made in Hong Kong by Mrs. Marcela Agoncillo and was assisted by Lorenza Agoncillo and Delfina Herboza.

Every detail in the flag has a meaning. The national flag of the Philippines has blue, white and red, and has an eight rayed golden sun and three give pointed  stars that is placed at each edge of the white triangle.

Philippine Independence

The eight rays of the sun represents the eight provinces that first stood the Spaniards. While the three stars in each corner of the white triangle represents the three island groups which are Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao that is also called LuzViMinda.

During peace times the flag shall be flown with the blue corner at the top and red if at the times of war.

I've seen many flags (of course!) because we also celebrate here the United Nations and it's included in our studies about the flags of the other countries. Among all flags, I found the Philippine flag simple and totally beautiful!

Have a great Independence Day to all of my fellow countrymen! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!
